Dr George Vella is the 10th President of the Republic of Malta and served in this office between 2019 and 2024.  During his presidency the St Paul Metropolitan Orchestra was honoured with his distinguished patronage for a number of performances, which he made it a point to attend. He was presented with the Honorary Patronage of the Orchestra in February 2024 after a concert , Ad Honorem, which was organised in his honour.
